Seawall Campground - Acadia NP
Seawall Campground - Southwest Harbor, Maine
The campground is quiet, wooded and in a great location near plenty of simple trails and spots to explore. The campground is flat and very bike friendly. Sites are available for both tents and RVs and each site has a picnic table and fireplace with a good amount of privacy. Water and bathrooms are available throughout the campground. There are lots of deer in the area so be cautious on your drive in!
Starting in late June, the Island Explorer Bus also stops at the campground which is a free option to get around the park without needing to drive or worry about parking.
Ventured Tips & Noteworthy Nearby Stops:
Bass Harbor Lighthouse is ~5 minutes away from the campground. There are two options to see the lighthouse - one path is paved and steep and the other stairs/rocks. Both are short trails. Parking during peak times can be tricky so be prepared to wait if visiting during these times
Wonderland Trail is ~5 minutes away from the campground and is about 1.3 miles long. The trail is flat and leads to a beach with neat tide pools
Seawall Picnic Area is a great spot for a picnic or to explore tide pools. Public restrooms are also available here.
Acadia Mountain is more of a climb but has great views. To get to the summit and back is ~1.6 miles round trip. There are other connecting trails if you’re looking to make it into a loop or summit multiple peaks
Beech Mountain - 20 minute drive from the campground - less than a mile hike to the summit with great views. There are other trails from the same trailhead giving you the option to make it a longer trek if you’d like.
Milagro Coffee Bar - 10 minute drive from the campground - excellent local coffee shop with great baked goods and breakfast sandwiches
Harbor Table - 10 minute drive from the campground - if you’re looking for a lunch or dinner spot that is a little different, give this spot a try. It’s small and they don’t take reservations but is worth a wait!
