The Eastern Trail - Scarborough, Maine
Perfect for biking, jogging, walking or bird watching
Last weekend, we took our bikes our for a ride on The Eastern Trail in Scarborough, Maine. This trail isn’t a “hidden gem” and can be very busy during popular days/times which makes it fun!
We parked at the trailhead off Eastern Road and cruised for ~4.5 miles before turning around near Cascade Road in Old Orchard Beach. This section is mostly easy and flat terrain, comprised of mostly packed gravel. We spent sometime checking out the marsh and birdwatching. The total ride took us around 1 hour.

The Maine Scoop Company .3 miles up from The Eastern Trail parking lot off of Pine Point Road, you’ll find The Maine Scoop. They have excellent farm fresh ice cream, sundae options and shakes. It’s a very family friendly spot and worth making a pit stop at! Although it is only .3 miles off the trail, the road is busy at times so use caution, especially with young kids!
