Why you should visit: the flowers, flowering trees and charming vibe of this neighborhood makes it worth visiting- especially in the spring while things are in bloom. Portland’s Western Promenade is perched on the hillside with views looking towards the White Mountains.

Parking: street parking is available throughout the area, we recommend parking along Western Prom

  • The old brick sidewalks are charming but can get a little bumpy for strollers throughout some sections of the neighborhoods

  • Stop at Tandem Coffee and Bakery on your way over or make it a detour on your walk. I highly recommend their scones, coffee and breakfast sandwiches!

  • Ugly Duckling offers a great brunch and lunch. We highly recommend their house-made buttermilk English muffins


Daffodils - Laurel Hill Cemetery - Saco, Maine

Why you should visit: the banks of the Saco river are lined with daffodils which bloom each spring making this a great spring destination. The cemetery also has some beautiful blooming cherry trees. I know a cemetery seems like an odd suggestion, but trust me on this one!

Parking: there is parking just as you enter but there is also parking in back section of the cemetery where the daffodils are mostly located

  • The cemetery roads are paved and aren’t heavily traffics which also makes it a great spot for strollers and bikes

  • 10 minutes away: Rover Bagels wood fired bagels makes this detour worth it. They have great breakfast sandwiches and coffee as well!

  • 10 minutes away: Time & Tide Coffee has great coffee, pasteries and unique drinks like their pistachio and maple creme lattes


U-pick Tulips - Chipman Farm - Poland, Maine

Why you should visit: the 45,000 tulips in a picturesque field make this the perfect outing. Chipman’s provides scissors, buckets and everything you need to venture into the fields and pick your own flowers. There is no entry cost and each stem is $1.75

When to visit: the tulip season is brief so be sure to monitor Chipman’s social media and website for opening/closing dates

Parking: onsite parking is available off of Carpenter Road

  • The fields can be muddy so choose appropriate footwear if you’re visiting after rain

  • 5 minutes away: Stop at Poland Provisions is just up the road offering great bagels, coffee with a small outdoor seating area. They also have a unique candy selection for kids along with some local Maine-made gifts.

  • 15 minutes away: Oxbow Beer Garden is a great stop if you’re looking for great beer and beer. Their outdoor area is pet friendly and also a great spot for kids!
