Mountain Division Trail - Gorham, Maine

A paved out-and-back trail with a great local farm market for coffee or food along the trail!

The trail: a paved trail that runs along an old railway making it a great spot for bikes and strollers. The out-and-back trail and can be made into a several mile outing with the option to make it as short as needed.

  • The trails also connect to the Otter Ponds trail system in Standish (pictured below in photo with bike/pond) which is maintained by the Sebago Lake Land Reserve (these are not paved trails)

Parking: Shaw Park in Gorham has a large parking lot. There are other options such as off Gambo Road, near the Windham Soccer fields.

Local Recommendations:

  • Orchard Ridge Farm is just off of the trail (at the crossing for Sebago Lake Road, ~1 mile from the Shaw Park trailhead) and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The homemade bagel breakfast sandwiches and coffee are always go-to options for us. They also have apple/blueberry picking in season, along with a small playground, and animals for the kids to check out.

Ventured Tips:

  • If parking at Shaw Park, the trailhead is on the Presumpscot River and offers a small swimming area with a spot to put canoes and kayaks in. The paddling along the river is excellent and there are usually lots of turtles along the river bank!
