Play and Walk at the Kezar River Reserve in Lovell, Maine

Hike: This reserve, which is managed by the Greater Lovell Land Trust, offers about 1.2 miles of easy trails. These are split into three distinct paths:

  • The Slide Trail (~0.2 miles)

  • The Storybook Trail (~0.4 miles – smooth terrain, story walk, wide trail, great for families)

  • Bev’s Loop (~0.6 miles – slightly more rugged terrain)

Nature Play Space: This area opened in November 2025 and is fantastic for kids. Expect a “mud kitchen,” playhouse, performance platform, tunnel, sand play area, picnic tables and more. It’s a safe place for children to roam free and explore nature!

Getting there: If you’re using GPS, search for Kezar River Reserve + Boat Launch (be aware: AllTrails might not take you to the correct spot). The driveway for the reserve is located across the street from the old Wicked Good Store/Gas Station. Look for the sign for the reserve, then follow the dirt road until you reach the parking area and trailhead.
